Please, accept my deepest condolences.
Dr. Lyons was my colleagues, my teacher, my friend, my American Professor. We met personally eight years ago when Dr. Lyons invited me to his laboratory for a short research visit to study horse parasites. However, all these years we were working together with horses, fur seals, sea lions in different parts of the USA. He was my God Father in horse parasitology and in marine mammal studies. He taught me to truly love these beautiful animals and to work with them.
For me, Dr. Lyons and his colleague Sharon were the brightest lights in the American classical parasitology – talented, creative, hard-working and extremely gifted researchers who taught me and many others beginners how to be Real Parasitologist, Real Scientist as they were – precise, accurate, thorough and absolutely honest in the smallest details. He aspired to perfection in everything He did every day; He was the best example to all colleagues. He was real Giant in the classical parasitology in the USA and for the all other world.
Also, Dr. Lyons was very good friend – helpful, attentive and caring, and work and communicate with Him was very easy and pleasant even in the hardest and the most severe conditions (which parasitologists can face in their work). And His wonderful sense of humor did not allow us to crumple even in the most difficult moments.
I was extremely happy to have an opportunity to work with Him, to participate in His studies and to communicate with Him during all these years. That is why it is so painful to realize that our time of productive teamwork and pleasant communication is over...
For me, American parasitology will not be the same without Him. A whole Epoch in classical parasitology is leaving with Him.
I am sure He is in better world now. God made Him very gifted person, and I am sure He takes Him to the Heaven. He made so many good things for another people, and many friends and colleagues are praying for Him now.
He always will be alive in my heart and in my life as a good friend, very talented scientist and cordial person. I will pray for Him. May God's peace be with Him.
Rest in Peace, Dear Dr. Lyons, Dear Friend!
