Carter Ray Brown, of Santee, NE passed away at Children's PICU, Omaha, NE. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Oyate Oyanke Community Center, Santee, NE with Rev. Patricia White Horse-Carda officiating. Burial will be in the Congregational Cemetery, Santee, NE. Visitations will be Wednesday and Thursday with a Prayer service at 7:00 PM both evenings at the Community Center. Visitations will resume Friday until the time of the service. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, is assisting with service details.
Carter Ray Brown was born to Justin and Tonya Brown on June 20, 2013 @ 12:22 pm at Bergen Medical Hospital in Omaha, NE. Shortly after the birth of Carter, he was whisked to the Children's NICU, where he would undergo surgical procedures to repair a heart defect that he was born with. While being hospitalized he captured the hearts of his nurses/caregivers/doctors. During the various procedures that the "Little Warrior" went through, he fought a hard battle to remain with his family.
Carter is preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert, "Bubby" Brown and grandmother, Millie Sheridan, grandfather, Jeff "Butch" Derby and great grandfather, Stanley "Stan the Man" White, one uncle, Jeffery Ray Derby. He is survived by his parents, Justin and Tonya Brown, big brother, Justin James Jr. (Dennis the Menace), grandparents, Roger and Carol Trudell, great grandmother, Rita White, numerous aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
Carter will be remembered by his parents as being a little warrior and fighter with his feisty spirit and captured your heart with his adorable little eyes.
