Frances Elsie (Tiede) Herrboldt, age 84 of Menno passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Salem Mennonite Home in Freeman, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, November 13, 2015 at Salem Reformed Church, Menno, SD with Rev. Michael Hecht officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery. Visitations will begin at 5 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno with a 7 PM Prayer service and video tribute. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers are Andrew Kanengieter, Aaron Kanengieter, Macon Oplinger, Austin Herrboldt, Ajay Herrboldt, Reid Johnson, Matt Rigo, Brian Lueders, Joshua Hofer and Micah Mastbergen.
Frances Elsie (Tiede) Herrboldt was born to Gustave and Elsie (Juhnke) Tiede of Parkston, SD on August 24, 1931. She was baptized on November 8, 1931 by Rev. Friederick Wacker. She was confirmed by Rev. Schiller. Her Confirmation verse was John 11:25-26. She attended country school in rural Parkston, SD. She married Donald Herrboldt on September 24, 1953, at Parkston, SD by Rev. Koehler at the Salem Congregational Church. She was a lifetime member of the Salem Reformed Church and a member of the Ladies Aid of Menno, SD. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked at the Menno-Olivet Care Center from 1975-1979. She enjoyed doing a lot of quilting and fancy work. She did a lot of babysitting with the grandchildren and enjoyed baking. Don and Frances moved into Menno in 1993 and moved into the Salem Mennonite Home in 2014 in Freeman, SD. In 2003, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows with Rev. Chuck Asche. In 2013, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Frances is survived by her children and grandchildren: Cynthia (Gary) Loerts of Worthington, MN and their daughters, Stacy Walters and Hope (Micah) Mastbergen; Debra (James) Christensen of Freeman, SD and their daughters, Michelle (Brian) Lueders, Sheila (Matt) Rigo and Tammy (Josh) Hofer; Brenda Mettler of Menno, SD and her sons, Andrew and Aaron Kanengieter; Mary (James) Mettler of Menno, SD and their sons, Reid Johnson and Macon Oplinger; Brian (Cindy) Herrboldt of Menno, SD and their children: Austin (Michelle), Abby and Ajay and 10 great grandchildren, sister, Gladys Friedrich and sisters-in-law, Alice Kost and Cleva (Norb) Wenzel.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and countless relatives and numerous friends.
