Todd Michael Kenney, age 35, of Yankton, SD, passed away in his sleep Saturday, November 15, 2014 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Mark Lichter officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, with a rosary at 7:00 PM, a video tribute, and Scripture service at 7:30 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: Gary Kriley (uncle), Mark Kriley (uncle), Marc Kriley (cousin), Bryan (Gus) Loneman (friend), Jim Prouty (friend), and Mary Kriley (cousin). Honorary pallbearer is Talan Peter Michael Kenney (son).
Todd was born December 16, 1978 in Sioux Center, IA to Douglas Michael and Linda (Kriley) Kenney. He was baptized, received First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion at St. Mary's Parish in Alton, Iowa and was confirmed at St. Joseph's Parish in Granville, IA. He graduated in 1997 at Spalding Catholic School in Granville, IA and graduated from Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He was married to Rachel R. Anderson from June 18, 2005 to October 2012 and to this union, a son, Talan Peter Michael, was born. Todd was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton. He was employed at Yankton Police Department as a jailer and Yankton Sheriff's Department as a deputy. In September 2002, Todd was employed as a Youth Counselor at Human Services Center, Yankton until his passing.
Todd is survived by his son, Talan Peter Michael Kenney of Yankton, SD; parents, Douglas and Linda Kenney of Yankton, SD; brother, Timothy (Brooke) Kenney and their children, Baylee and Brynn Kenney of Yankton, SD and sister, Lorraine (David) Kenney-Morfeld of Clarks Grove, MN.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marcellus and Lorraine Kriley and Donald and Betty Kenney.
