Marvin L. Pedersen, age 79, of Hartington, NE passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, IA. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, NE with Rev. Amanda Jertson officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran church, Hartington, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD is assisting with the service details. Marvin was born September 30, 1935 to Niels and Elvine (Dybdal) Pedersen. He attended various country schools and Hartington High School. Marvin married Gladys Konken on February 5, 1956 in Coleridge, NE.
Marvin worked at the Ford garage at an early age. He worked at Pedersen and Son Construction until 1966 when he went into business as Marvin Pedersen Earth Moving for 30 years. After selling his business, he worked in road construction in Nebraska and Iowa. After retirement he enjoyed traveling, especially the trips to Denmark. His other interests were working with wood and enjoying time with his family. Marvin was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Gladys Pedersen of Hartington, NE; his children: Douglas (Nancy) Pedersen of Trevett, ME, Debra (Kent) Brummels of Hartington, NE, David (Penny) Pedersen of Norfolk, NE; eight grandchildren: Sergio Pedersen, Jeremy Brummels (Veronica Cachu), Jeff (Lisa) Brummels, Christopher Brummels, Laura Brummels, Hope Pedersen, Sara Pedersen, Jacob Pedersen; great-grandchild, Nathan Brummels; brother, Gerald (Lorraine) Pedersen of Hartington, NE and sister, Doris Bell of Phoenix, AZ.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Gunner, Richard and Lloyd; sister-in-law, Inez Pedersen; brother-in-law, Ernest Bell and nephew, Darrell Pedersen.
