Calvin was a wonderful uncle. Many times he helped our family, and each of us individually. He set a great example of love and service to his family, his church, and his community. He was solidly dedicated to causes in which he believed. He loved the Lord, and he loved his family deeply. From everything I could observe, he was a remarkable person and an excellent, loving, teaching father. I'm confident that he was an exemplary grandfather as well. The world could improve with more men like Calvin Hagge.
Life did not begin when we came to earth, nor will it end when we depart mortality. We can and will come together again, and we will rejoice together in love. A great reunion awaits us. We send our love, comfort and prayers. We weep because we love and care. And we rejoice in the ways that our loved ones filled our lives and souls with strength, inspiration, care, and vigor. Grief and healing take time, and take place as we fill our lives with the celebration of lives past and present. May we ever love and bless those around us, and those who have blessed us throughout our lives. May we always remember them.
One night in our youth, Ralph and my brother and I camped out in a tent in front of Calvin’s farm home. In the wee hours of the morning, a lightening storm arose as we soundly slept. Very soon, Calvin arose from his own much needed rest and appeared at our tent door. With concern about a lightening strike to our aluminum tent poles or along wet ground, Calvin shepherded three weary young lads into the farm home and into safety. May we remember Calvin’s example of shepherding others to safety as we hear the voice of the Spirit and likewise lead them to everlasting safety.
With love and cheer for a life well-lived,
