Obituary of Leona Streyle
Leona Streyle, age 94 of Menno, SD passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, May 24, 2024 at Zion Reformed Church, Menno, SD with Rev. Travis Grassmid officiating. The burial will be in the Zion Reformed-Kassel Cemetery rural Menno, SD. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Leona Eileen Streyle was born February 10, 1930, to Henry and Regina Oswald in rural Menno. She was baptized on May 29, 1930, and confirmed on July 7, 1946 at the Zion Evangelical Church in rural Menno. She attended Oswald Rural School. After the 8th grade she helped her parents on the farm until September 14, 1950, when she was united in marriage to Elmer Streyle at the Zion Evangelical Church. To this union two children were born. She loved to farm with Elmer until they retired to Menno. On December 18 she entered the Menno Olivet Care Center where she resided until her death.
She is survived by her son, Gordon; daughter, Bonnie; sister, Hulda Auch; brother-in-law Elton (Joyce) Streyle; sisters-in-law, Lorine Birger, and Shirley Wahle.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, parents, two brothers, Edmund and Elmer (Lora) Oswald; seven sisters, Edna (Albert) Oswald, Viola (Ralph) Tipple, Ardena Oswald, Elda (Ervin) Schaeffer, Adella (Richard) Auch, Martha (Art) Mettler, Elnora (Gust) Schultz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray (Alma) Streyle, Linda (Rueben) Heckenliable, Elda (Edgar) Schaeffer, Laverne Wahle, George Birger and Kay Streyle.
