Stella was my great aunt, and we shared the same birthday March 22. Her sister Evelyn was my grandmother, whose birthday was March 20. I remember Stella as always being a kind and nice person, with a great sense of humor, very enjoyable to converse with, always positive, I never heard her say anything negative about anyone or anything. She was my sponsor for Baptism and would send a new book of the Laura Ingalls Wilder series on each birthday. My mom would read a chapter each night to us (me and my 3 younger siblings) on the sofa ... this was very interesting and meaningful to us to learn about the past history as well as the quality family time. As a young child, I remember visiting Stella on the farm, gathering eggs from the hen house, exploring the farm with Norma, and then Stella cooking a huge breakfast. When I was older and she was living in town, we visited with my two young sons and saw the Historical Museum and the sod house. I remember that she was going to drive us somewhere, and as she shut the front door (not locking it), I asked her "do you have the car keys?". She replied "Yes, they are in the car". LOL, big difference between small town life and big city Phoenix life! She was a wonderful person, she will be greatly missed, and we were blessed to have her on this earth. She will be with God and Sam now, and I will look forward to meeting up with her again some day.
