Cowboy, it has been a lot of years since we first met and a lot of years since we have seen each other. I was that little girl trying to break into racing motorcycles at the local track back in the late 70s. You were in charge of the starting gate. You always made sure to tap my mini bike fender with your flag and told me to go out there and show them what a girl can do. I have never forgotten that. You were such a gentle giant in my eyes. Thank you for keeping the racers safe all those years and also for what you have done in recent years. A testament that you were always there to life people up. Rest easy, sir.....

Our family is blessed to have known Gerry and to have benefited from his caring and kindness in many ways. Gerry was a pioneer and a leader who touched people through his graceful presence, sense of humor, and humility. It was so good to see Gerry and Carol again this spring at a on the sidelines of a soccer tournament as always supporting the kids.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Gerry’s passing. My heartfelt condolences to your family. Gerry was a friend and teammate at YC and when he lined up on the left side, he made my job much easier. I was pleased to have reconnected with Gerry this past June and know the great memories we all have of him will live on forever.

When I was working on Ward 9, patients would go to Gerry. He’d put an arm around them, and they would smile. You could tell how safe they felt in that moment hugging him with his arm wrapped around them. It seemed like he was an angel wrapping them in his wings. I picture him now, wrapped in angel wings in heaven. Godspeed Gerry.
