Obituary of Susan Coke
Susan Ann Coke, 57, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2017 with her family at her side in Yankton, SD, after a battle with lung cancer.
A private family viewing was held at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:00pm. Pastor Nicole Anderson of the United Methodist Church lead the family in prayer. Susan was born in Rapid City to Clarence and Lily Pokorney on October 4, 1959. She went to Yankton High School and graduated in 1978. She devoted her life to working with mental illness as a Mental Health Aide at the Human Services Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time outdoors, and being with family. Susan was one of the most thoughtful people, always putting others before herself. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and whose greatest passion was helping others.
Susan is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Pokorney.
Susan is survived by her ex-husband Tim Coke of Mission Hill, son Dustin Coke, daughter Ashley Hatley, son Cameron Coke, brother Steve Pokorney, sister Debbie Peterson, mother Lily Pokorney, and two grandchildren Morgan Peterson and Devon Coke.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4904 S Technopolis Dr., Sioux Falls, SD 57106.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Avera Sister James Care Center and Hospice Care Majestic Bluffs for the care of their loved one in her final days.
