Obituary of Delores Mae Schoppert

Delores was born on December 20, 1927 to William Ernest and Minnie Sophia (Jensen) Fiskey in Bridgewater, SD. She was baptized in Bridgewater, SD and confirmed in Salem, SD. Delores attended Salem Public School and graduated in 1945. She continued her education attending South Dakota State, Northern State Teachers College, and Dakota Wesleyan in 1962 where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education. Delores was an elementary teacher for 40 plus years, retiring in 1990. She taught in Hammond, WI, Parkston, SD, and Menno, SD, teaching Kindergarten and 3rd Grade. Delores also taught typing and shorthand.
She was a member at Christ Lutheran Church in Salem, SD and then at Grace Lutheran Church of Menno, SD. She taught Sunday School for 15 years. Delores was part of the South Dakota Education Association, Rames-Bender American Legion Post #152 Ladies Auxiliary, and Christ Lutheran Women.
Delores was a big Minnesota Twins Baseball fan, an avid reader and sang in the church Choir.
Those who will cherish her memory are her two sisters, Bernice Christopherson of Brandon, SD and Jean Fiskey of Mankato, MN and cousins, Pamela King and Jane Schumacher and a special friend, Yvonne Kelling of Mankato, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Schoppert, her parents, William and Minnie Fiskey and brother, Ralph Fiskey.
