LAW LENORE

            Lenore K. Law, age 101 of Yankton, SD passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Scott Traynor officiating.  Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD.  Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD with a rosary at 6:45 PM followed by a Scripture service at 7:00 PM.  Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.  On line condolences may be sent to: www.opsahl-kostelfuneralhome.com. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Cindy Law, Pamela Langland, Stephanie Law, Jon Law, Jacob Law, Phillip Law, and Molly Raglani.

Lenore Katherine was born February 5, 1916 at the family farm to Victor and Katherine Hacecky Cwach.  She attended rural grade school and graduated from Yankton High School in 1934.  She helped her father farm by plowing with a team of horses.  On November 22, 1937 Lenore married Lloyd Law and they farmed and raised their family west of Yankton.  You could always find Lenore in her kitchen baking kolaches and her cookie jar was always full.  She enjoyed tending her garden and caring for her chickens.  In 1982, Lloyd and Lenore retired from the farm and moved to Yankton where she enjoyed crocheting, following the Chicago Cubs, and playing canasta and bingo a couple times a week.  Lenore lived in her own home and drove her car until she was 96 years old.  She then moved to an apartment at Walnut Village and in 2016 moved to the Sister James Care Center where she was an avid bingo player. 

Lenore was a member of St Benedict’s Catholic Church and a 25 year member of the West Side Susans Extension Club. 

Lenore is survived by three sons:  Bob (Mary Kaye), Jerry (Barb), and Dan (Renee), seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Lenore is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lloyd, her parents Victor and Katherine Cwach, great-great granddaughter Evelyn Langland, sisters Evelyn Celmer (Chuck) Welte, Delores(Roger) Klimisch, Mary Jane (Marvin) Gall and brothers Edward (Violet) and Melvin(Bernice). 

Lenore, a wonderful Mom and friend, will be greatly missed.
