Jim was born to Anthony and Leona (Lange) Haberman on November 18, 1939 near Menominee, NE on the family homestead. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He worked on the family farm until joining the military. After 2 years in the military he married Joan Edna Shreve in Yankton, SD on September 14th 1963. From this union were born 6 sons: Jeff (Annette) Haberman St. Helena NE, Brent (Jill) Haberman Olivet, SD, Todd (Amy) Haberman St. Helena NE, Scott (Teresa) Haberman Fairbank, IA, Darrin Haberman Yankton, SD, and Broch (Stephanie) Haberman, Harrisburg, SD. Jim was a hardworking man who enjoyed horses, he fostered a love for them in his children and grandchildren through his long involvement with 4-H. He also enjoyed hunting with his boys and bird dogs and was an avid team roper.
Jim worked for Contractors and Builders for 37½ years and Gehl manufacturing for 9 years. Following, he worked a summer for Doyle Stevens Construction, ending with employment with the State of South Dakota.
He is survived by his wife Joan, his 6 sons, 5 daughters-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren & 10 siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Leona (Lange) Haberman; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Boyce and Edna Shreve; and his great granddaughter, Tanna.
