Tillie Lane, age 98, of Yankton, SD passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Avera Yankton Care Center, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Ken Lulf officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, is assisting with service details.
Tillie was born March 9, 1917 in Yankton, SD to Charles E. and Clara (Barkl) Hlavac and raised on the family farm near Utica. She attended Wilson District 54 School, Utica, SD. Tillie married Edward Lane on March 30, 1937 and to this union, one son was born on July 14, 1950. She worked for the Fuller Brush Company as a sales lady. Tillie and her husband loved to travel. Their travels took them to Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Arizona, Canada and Catalina Island. They enjoyed entertaining with friends and dancing. Tillie was a very classy lady. She was a member of the VFW, Moose Lodge and sang in the St. Benedict Choir.
Tillie is survived by her son, Rodney of Yankton, SD; one sister, Evelyn Parks of Sioux City, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Tillie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward on January 13, 1998; sisters: Rose Fejfar, Helen Buechler and Elsie VanDriel and brothers: William, Alfred and Benjamin.
