Ann Hudson, age 69 of Yankton, SD passed away with her family by her side at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD on Monday, June 16, 2014. A celebration of Ann's life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June, 21, 2014 at the Riverview Reformed Church in Yankton, SD. A luncheon will follow Ann's celebration at the church. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, SD are in charge of the arrangements.
Rosalie Ann was born August 12, 1944 in Philip, South Dakota to Edwil Dale and Evelyn (Gartner) Stephenson. She was baptized at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Philip and confirmed at Lutheran Memorial in Pierre.
She graduated from Riggs High School, Pierre in 1963 and then moved to California where she me the love of her life. Ann and Dick (James Richard Hudson) were married January 4, 1964. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. They were blessed with three children: Rick (Joanie) of Tyndall, SD, Joe of Yankton, SD, and Tonya Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD; 3 granddaughters: Tasha Bollack of Beresford, SD, Brittany Anderson of Sioux Falls, and Olivia Hudson of Yankton, SD; 2 great grandchildren, Kendal Lineback-Bollack and Airyanna Lineback-Bollack, both of Sioux Falls, SD; 3 step grandchildren: Taera, Kiefer and Travis.
Ann was a gifted artist with her paintings and cake decorating over the years. As her Multiple Sclerosis progressed, she was unable to continue with these and began quilting. She organized a weekly sewing group at their church which was an outreach to women of the community. Ann enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with family and friends. She shared her love of Jesus by teach Sunday school and helping others. Her door was always open as was her heart.
She began a "Christmas Store" where kids could shop for their families without any cost to them. This is now a non-profit organization dear to her heart. Her wish is that this will continue and grow to help more area youth.
Ann is also survived by her mother, Evelyn Henrichsen of Willmar, MN; sister, Wynn (Tom) Harder of Willmar, MN; sister-in-law, Tommy Hudson (Betty Fitzgerald) of Sunrise Beach, TX; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Mark.
