Obituary of June Ellingson

June Ellingson, age 92, of Yankton, SD passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD surrounded by her family. Committal services will begin 9:30 AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Yankton Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday morning with a Memorial service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the United Church of Christ (Congregational), Yankton, SD will Rev. Molly Carlson officiating. There will be visitations Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD. Alice June (Seeley) Ellingson was born on March 9, 1922 in Yankton, SD to Eugene and Bessie Seeley. She was the fourth oldest of six children. June attended school in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School in 1940. She worked at Gurney's, then Fox Jewelry before devoting her life to her family. When her children were grown, she worked at Christopherson's Floral and Mickelson Real Estate. June married Vernon Glenn ("Oine") Ellingson on June 9, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Yankton, SD. To this union was born three children, William "Duke" (Peg) Ellingson, Sue (Ed) Buda, and Bob (Deb) Ellingson. June loved to golf, knit, sew, bake and spend time with her family. June and Oine were really in love, they were together for over 68 years and never left each other's side. They enjoyed catching a good movie, socializing at the Elks club, going somewhere warm in the winter, playing golf and holding hands on their daily walks. June also enjoyed checking in with her grandchildren and great grandchildren through email and Facebook. Thankful for having shared her life are her children William "Duke" (Peg) Ellingson, Yankton, SD, Sue (Ed) Buda, Crystal Lake, IL and Bob (Deb) Ellingson, Yankton, SD; her grandchildren Lindsey (Bill) Doctorman, Skagway, AK, Amanda "Mi-Mi" (Scott) Feyen, Aurora, IL, Jessica (Cem) Oztas, Overland Park, KS and Jaimie (Lars) Lawson, Skagway, AK; her great grandchildren Malcolm and Kurt Lawson, Allison and Alex Feyen and Paxton Oztas. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Cody Ellingson, sisters, Lonnie Andresen, Ethel Reetz and Nancy Beilby, brother, Jay Seeley, and parents, Eugene and Bessie Seeley. June always kept up on the latest fashion and trends. She will be remembered for her spark for life, beauty and love for her family.
