LOWIN DENNIS

Dennis R. Lowin, age 84 of Crofton, NE passed away early Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Heritage of Bel-Air Retirement Home of Norfolk, NE. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, SD with Deacon Shane Kleinschmit officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Crofton, NE. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Dennis was born on August 11, 1940 on a farm near Bloomfield, Nebraska.  Dennis was the son of Henry and Lucille (Thunker) Lowin.  Dennis was united in marriage in 1963 with Joy Schmeckpepper, and from that union had one child.  On July 24, 1976, Dennis was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann (Boelter) in Bloomfield, NE and later built a home near Crofton, NE.  They enjoyed 48 years of spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors and their precious dog Dottie.  Dennis was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life and enjoyed his entire working career and beyond with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.  Dennis, and his frequent hunting partner, Bill Christensen who spent many hours in the duck blind.   Dennis and Phyllis owned and operated the Cedar Room Bar and Café in Bloomfield for many years and managed the clubhouse at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Bloomfield.  Dennis enjoyed collecting, buying and selling anything related to hunting as well as much wood working in his shop.  He enjoyed many memories with his family and friends eating his favorite food, cheeseburgers as well as watching the Dallas Cowboys NFL team. 

Left to celebrate his life are his daughter Tammy (Matt) Moeller of Madison, NE; sister, Carol Jueden of Hartington, NE; and brother Gary (Judy) Lowin of Bloomfield.  Stepchildren:   Marilyn Poppe of Yankton, SD; Patty Wheeler (Bo) of Crofton, NE; Gary Boelter (Thalia) of Crofton, NE; Doug Boelter (Sheila) of Algona, IA.  Grandchildren:   Shae (Tyler) Vanschoiack, Rhaegen (Logan) Frey.  Step grandchildren:  Jamie (Kristy) Poppe, Jason (Erica) Poppe, Jessica (Wesley) Christensen, T.J.(Rachael) Wheeler, Sherri Wheeler (Sasha Babic), Tara Wheeler, Beau Marie (Jesse) Huerta, Justin (Tracy) Wheeler, Matthew (Maggie Carter) Boelter, Travis (Jenna) Boelter, Kayla Boelter, Zach Boelter, Jenna Boelter, and 5 great grandchildren and 21 step great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandsons.

Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Lowin and parents Henry and Lucille Lowin.
