Obituary of Douglas Michael Kenney
Douglas Michael Kenney, age 67, of Yankton, SD, passed away November 29, 2017 at his home in Yankton.
Doug was born July 29, 1950 to Donald and Betty (Brewer) Kenney, in Council Bluffs, IA. He was baptized August 13, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Church in Neola, IA. Doug’s first communion was on May 11, 1958 at St. Columbanus Church in Weston, IA and was also confirmed at St. Columbanus Church. Doug graduated in 1968 from St. Albert’s High School in Council Bluffs, IA and attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA after graduating. Doug married Linda Lorraine Kriley on November 23, 1974 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Council Bluffs, IA and were blessed with three children. Doug was employed by Iowa DOT for approximately 26 years. He was also employed with NW Management Apartments, Pamida, Advance Brands, Walmart, Yankton Transit, South Dakota DOT, Convenient Loans, Yankton County Highway Division, Sacred Heart Church and Church Office and Menards. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD. Family meant everything to Doug and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Doug is survived by his wife, Linda Lorraine (Kriley) Kenney of Yankton, SD; son, Timothy (Brooke) Kenney of Yankton, SD; daughter, Lorraine (David) Kenney-Morfeld of Norfolk, NE; five grandchildren: Baylee and Brynn Kenney of Yankton, SD, Talan Kenney of Yankton, SD and Kylee and Kharee Morfeld of Norfolk, NE; half-brothers: Joe (Sonia) Kenney of Vero Beach, FL, Steve (Kym) Kenney of Oregon, IL and Kevin Kenney of Lincoln, NE; sister, Dianne Marie (Alberto Perez) Kenney of Aurora, CO and half-sister, Colleen (Todd) Kenney-Fleischer of Lincoln, NE.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Todd Michael Kenney and grandparents, Leonard and Lucile Brewer and William and Mabel Kenney.
