Obituary of Sandy Louise Dolney

Sandra “Sandy” L. Dolney, age 63 of Centerville and formerly of Yankton, SD passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 23, 2017. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, SD with Rev. Jim Mors officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories, Yankton, SD. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD with a Scripture service at 7:00 PM. On-line condolences may be sent at: www.opsahl-kostelfuneralhome.com. Pallbearers are all of Sandy's nephews: Shaun, Jeremy, Steve, Travis, Will and Dan. Honorary pallbearers are her nieces, Megan and Jennifer. Sandy was born in Yankton, SD to William and Verna (Sparks) Bentley on February 10, 1953. She went to high school at Yankton High School and graduated in 1971. She went on to work for M-Tron for over 35 years while moonlighting as an enthusiastic Avon representative. She married Homer Dolney on March 21, 1981 and to this union was blessed many spoiled pets. Together they spent every summer for over a decade planting highly sought after Bodacious sweet corn. She enjoyed crafting, coloring, painting, crochet projects, and shopping adventures with her sister. Her vibrant personality and razor wit will be missed by all who knew her as a friend. Grateful to have shared her life is her sister, Connie Bentley (Jim) Mors of Yankton, SD, her brothers, Russ (Pat) Bentley, of Huron, SD and Rick (Linda) Bentley of Yankton, SD. Her Uncle Earl (Marge) Sparks, her Aunt Leona Sparks, both of Yankton. SD and special friend, Dale of Centerville, SD. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond & Tillie Sparks, her parents, William & Verna Bentley, her brother, Ron Bentley, her Uncle Melvin Sparks, her ex-husband Homer Dolney, & her fiancé, Kris Gifford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Connie Mors & family, 812 Summit St, Yankton, SD 57078.
